Not a motif I have noticed anywhere else but in the albums (but see last). The gentleman appears to be plucking one of the flower-women, so — in the Huber album version — the lady inquires, Worumb diesze Rosen? Bin Ich doch viell reiffer [Why these roses? I am much riper]

cod. don. 899, f.117r.

The illustration below is one of 6, executed in pen-&-ink and watercolour, spread over two sheets, whose subjects are described by the museum as Satirische Darstellungen zur Liebe und zum Ablaßhandel [satirical representations of love and the sale of indulgences] and dated 1586×1600. I suggest they were probably intended as models for album illustrations.
